You will be responsible for creating consistent, clear, concise documentation for our defence products. You will work closely with multiple project teams, including Subject Matter Experts, engineers and project leads.
Technical Author will be based at either our Barnstaple, Bristol or Beckington site. This role allows for flexible working.
The salary for this role is up to £52k, depending on experience.
What you’ll be doing
- Ensure the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of the documentation by following style guides and established standards such as ASD S1000D
- Management of Common Source Databases
- Generation of Interactive Electronic Technical Publication and paper based manuals
- Review and incorporate feedback from users, stakeholders and internal teams to continuously improve the quality of the documentation

The skills you need
- Excellent working knowledge of MS office suite, including an expert knowledge of MS Word and Excel
- Proven experience creating/amending defence related technical publications and related media which includes BRs and IETPs
- Be conversant with ASD S1000D writing rules, Def Stan 00-600, Def Stan 00-601 Pt2, GEIA-HB-0007 LPD handbook and ASD STE100 guidelines
- Be able to interpret engineering drawing sets and source data to create new procedural DMs and Integrated Parts Catalogues
- Have an engineering and/or military background would be advantageous
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills
- The aptitude and drive to actively progress continuous improvement
